Origami photo jewelry

EMBRASSE | AMBRAS was a project of “De Winkelhaak” (a hub for creative entrepreneurship in Antwerp, Belgium) letting 22 designers work in pairs around the theme “LOVE & HATE”.

Each pair consisted of a Flemish artist and a Walloon artist, accentuating the LOVE & HATE-connection between the two parts of Belgium. I teamed up with Ununo.

Technique: We decided to create a jewelry collection inspired by origami techniques. Origami was used during the celebration of Shinto weddings to represent the bride and groom (love) and samurai warriors would exchange gifts adorned with origami (war).

Material: On the paper we printed photographs of Flanders and Wallonia. We didn’t choose regular paper but unbreakable Tyvek, just like the bond between the two sides of Belgium.
